Apple launched a new iPad with pencil support in an education event in Chicago. The event is held at Lane Tech High school in Lakeview where they announced few tools for teachers & students to manage their education along with the iPad.
The tech giant is falling behind its competitors Google & Microsoft, with Google Chromebooks dominating the sales for students by providing unlimited cloud storage & access to Google Drive storage with 100 GB for 2 years. They have also announced few tools which gonna help teachers & students in various aspects of their education.
One such tool named Smart Annotation which will help teachers to mark reports in pages with the help of pencil & also they have promised for a few customizations to its iWork apps. One of the amazing tools from this event is Froggipedia app, where using Augmented reality students can now dissect a frog virtually with the help of the pencil.
This new iPad will feature 9.7 Inch display with Touch ID with LTE option. The rear camera will be featuring an 8MP camera & an HD Facetime camera in the front which will be powered by A10 Fusion chip & can give approx 10 hours of battery life. It will be available in silver, gold finish & space gray colors in Apple stores. The pencil support is an additional option where you need to pay few bucks for it, unlike Samsung or Chromebooks where the stylus is default option & will be coming with the device. This iPad will be available to schools at $299 & for consumers for $329 and stylus ( Apple Pencil ) will be priced at $99 for regular consumers & $89 for schools.
With this, the price will be close to $390 for students which will be expensive considering you can get a Chromebook at much lower price & also the new Acer Chromebook with Stylus will be available at $299. They are also offering 200 GB iCloud storage for students with this iPad. It will be interesting to see if this new iPad will put an end to Chromebook domination or not.
