Facebook is being aggressive while dealing with whatsapp after buying it for a hefty amount they pushed voice call, video call, Snapchat stories to WhatsApp & now payments.
WhatsApp payments is now live for beta users in India. WhatsApp has been testing this payment options for few months & finally rolled out to few beta users this morning.
Update: To get the payments option, you need to ask one of your contacts to open payments & attempt to send money ( You don’t need to send money, just click on payments that it ). This will enable payment option to you. Now open payments option & link bank account.
Payment option is showing in attachments in chats along with document, gallery, Audio, Location & contact. Earlier camera used to be in this option. WhatsApp earlier in July 2017 took approval for UPI ( Unified Payments Interface ) integration even Facebook is testing out UPI, you can soon expect it in messenger too.
This move will boost WhatsApp for Business in India. WhatsApp has over 200 million users in India alone & few months before Google has launched it’s UPI based payment app Google Tez for Indian users which is working pretty good. After the announcement of UPI from the government as a move to promote digital payments, Google, Facebook, Samsung, Zomato are testing it out for integration.

How to use WhatsApp Payment
So, click on Payment option in the attachment.
then Click on Agree & Verify via SMS
Once the verification is done, It will show the list of all banks available, select your bank.
It will fetch your bank acc details, click on the account no, which you want to link to it.
That’s it. You can also check your payment history & the bank accounts which you have linked.
Go to Settings –> Payments –> Click on the bank acc.
You can change your UPI pin, reset Pin, remove bank acc.
Setup will be completed & now you can send & receive payments but the other user also needs to have the payment option in whatsApp. But the other user needs to have payments option enabled in whatsapp.
If the other contact has payments option then you can enter the amount & description then it will be redirected to UPI, where you need to enter UPI PIN. The amount will be transferred. You can see the amount transfer in chat when you click on that, you will be able to see all the details.
Still, this is in beta stage & only available to few users who signed up for the beta. Once they release it, it’s gonna improve. So, wait for few more days till the update is available to all the users. This move might be a jolt for Google Tez, PayTM which are ruling the digital payment system in India. It’s interesting to see how they gonna tackle with this.
